Tasting Notes: The Camigliano Brunello di Montalcino is dark and brooding at first, but with some air it opens with an arresting bouquet of dried roses, strawberries and graphite. The palate is rich with cassis, black cherry, and round tannins. We recommend you pair it with a perfectly grilled Bistecca Fiorentina for a moment of pure Tuscan joy.
Estate History: Camigliano was a fortified homestead before becoming a settlement for the local Etruscans, who followed the course of the Ombrone River from the coastal Maremma area to the castle. During the Medieval Period, it became an important outpost for Montalcino, joining in the fight to defend the republican freedom in the middle of the 16th century.
In 1957, the winery was purchased by Walter Ghezzi , a courageous and enterprising businessman from Milan with a passion for Tuscany. Since then it has undergone an intense and radical improvement in recent years with the arrival of Walter’s son Gualtiero. The vineyards have been brought to their full potential at an altitude of 300-350masl and a new underground cellar was built to store all the precious bottles from the estate.
