Tasting Notes: The Clementi Valpolicella Classico is a brisk, light-bodied red wine displaying vibrant notes of red fruits, particularly sour cherries, raspberries, and strawberries, complemented by a hint of spice and a refreshing acidity that makes it a highly versatile, thirst-quenching wine. Fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve its brightness and pure fruit expression, it offers a distinctly savory profile with resonant minerality, setting it apart from more extracted, modern styles.
Estate History: The Clementi estate, located in the Valpolicella Classica region, was founded by Pietro Clementi, a lawyer who, in 1969, purchased a historic 17th-century property in Marano di Valpolicella to pursue his passion for winemaking. From the beginning, Pietro resisted commercial trends toward richer, oakier wines, aiming instead to produce a traditional, non-flashy style that emphasized the natural freshness and acidity of the high-altitude vineyards. Today, the winery is run by Pietro's three children—Maria, Maurizio, and Bernardino—who continue their father's philosophy, employing sustainable viticulture, natural fermentations with indigenous yeasts, and avoiding synthetic chemicals to allow the land to speak for itself.
