Tasting Notes: The palate of the Amarone della Valpolicella Morandina opens with dried cherries and plums mixed with dark cocoa and licorice. The full and smooth structure is balanced with tannins and a surprising freshness thanks to the altitude of the vineyard and the high chalk composition in the soils.
Estate History: The Prà winery, although relatively young, as it started in the early 1980’s, has come to be knowns as one of the visionary wine makers of Italy. The winery in Monteforte d’Alpone, is run by Graziano Prà, whose family owned their vineyards for generations but never commercialized the wines in bottles. Besides the native Soave, the winery also produces Valpolicella and Amarone from a vineyard purchased and planted in 2001. The resulting Amarone is remarkable and has been discovered only recently.
