Tasting Notes: The Castello di Ama Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo has a pure ruby-red color in the glass. The nose showcases wild cherry and strawberry notes. There are some tertiary hints of saddle leather and fall leaves. The flavor is of slow-ripened red fruits, succulent, intriguing and long-lasting. Tannins are round and delicate. The finish expresses a lively freshness with notes of dark red fruits, wet ground and wood.
Estate History: Castello di Ama takes its name from a small borgo, or agricultural hamlet, nestled in the hills of Tuscany. Five centuries ago, it was the hub of a florid farming and winemaking business overseen by a group of local families. Castello di Ama , the winery, was founded in the 1970s by a group of families who had fallen under the spell of this magical spot. They set themselves the task of reviving Ama’s past glories and of producing a Chianti Classico that would rank among the world’s most prestigious wines.
