Tasting Notes: The Fontanafredda Barolo Vigna Lazzarito shows ruby-red with garnet highlights, a sumptuous bouquet, with clear-cut overtones of ripe plums, tobacco, licorice, dried mushrooms, nutmeg and white pepper. Very dense, closely-woven tannins give the taste a well-knit sensation, together with softness and balance.
Estate History: Among the splendid rolling hills of the Langhe, in the heart of Piedmont, stands the beautiful Fontanafredda estate, which once belonged to King Vittorio Emanuele II who n turn gave it to Rosa Vercellana, a commoner with whom he had fallen madly in love. An ancient love story, kept alive by the modern Fontanafredda team, with particular attention to that desire to renew and improve that which has always distinguished the company, now a point of reference in the Langa area. Here, indeed the passion for wine, for the land and for tradition finds its most concrete expression.
