Tasting Notes: Montosoli is a "Grand Cru" vineyard site in Montalcino and the 2019 effort from Canalicchio di Sopra is nothing short of stunning. The structure, depth of fruit and power of the vintage are balanced by fine-knit tannins, vibrant acidity and an overall sense of class and elegance. This is a winebuilt for the cellar, with the ability to age but plenty to offer in the medium to short-term as well.
Estate History: The Canalicchio di Sopra estate is one of a handful of Brunello producers that we collect in every vintage. Their first bottle of Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino was produced in 1966 and, in 1967, they were one of the twelve founding producers of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. While the quality of the wines has always been high, the last decade has seen it taken to new heights as the team has begun to examine particular parcels and fine-tune some aspects of the vinification process.
