Tasting Notes: This vibrant garnet red Barolo opens with assertive aromas of graphite, violets, and minty herbs, complemented by deep undertones of licorice and tobacco. On the palate, it delivers a focused energy with concentrated flavors of macerated cherry, redcurrants, and plum. The structure is defined by lavish, velvety tannins and a distinct chalky minerality that provides a refined balance. A zesty freshness carries through to a long, savory finish, suggesting significant longevity and potential for graceful aging over the next decade or more.
Estate History: Founded in 1965 by Renato Ratti, a visionary who returned to his native Piedmont after working in Brazil, the estate began with a small parcel in the historic Marcenascum area near the Abbey of L’Annunziata. Ratti was a revolutionary figure who created the first detailed map of Barolo's historical crus and developed the iconic Albeisa bottle to identify the region's unique heritage. Following Renato's untimely death in 1988, his son Pietro Ratti took the helm, continuing the legacy by expanding vineyard holdings in La Morra and modernizing the winery with a gravity-flow cellar in 2005. Today, the winery remains a benchmark for elegance and terroir-driven winemaking in the heart of the Langhe.
