Tasting Notes: A bone-dry Pas Dosé Metodo Classico sparkling wine from Contratto, made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and aged for an extended period on its lees before release without added dosage. Expect a fine, persistent perlage, aromas of brioche, toasted hazelnut, citrus and white flowers, and a taut, mineral palate with real depth. Superb with oysters, crudo, fried foods and aged Parmigiano Reggiano.
Estate History: Founded in Canelli in 1867, Contratto is among Italy's oldest sparkling wine houses, famous for its historic underground cathedral cellars carved into the hillside, today part of a UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
