Tasting Notes: The Tommaso Bussola Amarone della Valpolicella Classico presents a deeply concentrated profile with an intense bouquet of dried cherries, plums, figs, dark chocolate, and notes of spice, tobacco, and orange zest. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich, with velvety tannins, balanced acidity, and layers of ripe dark fruit and dried herbs. The wine displays great complexity and elegance, with a long, warming finish that is both opulent and savory, offering excellent aging potential.
Estate History: Tommaso Bussola, originally a stonemason, inherited his uncle's estate in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico zone in the mid-1980s. Guided by instinct and a desire for experimentation, he began implementing innovative viticulture techniques, such as aggressive pruning and focusing on soil health, which was a departure from conventional wisdom at the time. A new phase began in the early 1990s with the construction of a new cellar and the introduction of barriques, allowing for a more managed aging process which led to the creation of the high-quality 'TB' label wines. Today, the estate is a family-run winery, with Tommaso's sons, Paolo and Giuseppe, building upon their father's unique style to craft wines of great elegance and finesse.
