Tasting Notes: This Sauvignon Blanc opens with a vibrant and aromatic bouquet characterized by elderflower, ripe pink grapefruit, and white peach, woven together with savory hints of sage and tomato leaf. On the palate, it exhibits a sophisticated structure and a silky weight that stems from partial aging in large oak casks. A pronounced mineral core drives the experience, offering a crisp, saline freshness that balances the lush fruit flavors. The finish is remarkably long and elegant, leaving behind a persistent trace of citrus zest and crushed stone.
Estate History: Founded in 1930 by Daniele Venica, the estate is located in the heart of the Collio DOC region in Dolegna del Collio. Over several generations, the family has expanded the property to nearly 40 hectares, meticulously managing a mosaic of vineyards with diverse microclimates and exposures. The winery rose to international prominence under the guidance of Gianni Venica, who focused on highlighting the unique "Ponca" soil—a mixture of marl and sandstone—to produce white wines of exceptional longevity and character. Today, the family remains dedicated to sustainable viticulture and traditional techniques that honor the heritage of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia landscape.
